Softball Game Preview: Mountain Island Charter Raptors vs. Draughn Wildcats

The Mountain Island Charter Raptors will face off against the Draughn Wildcats on Friday. Mountain Island Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Harleigh Reece made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Reagan Hart was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Leilani Swanson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Draughn won against Mountain Heritage on Friday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Wildcats never let Leadership Academy get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Mountain Island Charter pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Draughn, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9.
