Baseball Recap: Shaler Area Starts Season with Win Against Gateway

Shaler Area had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Gateway Gators 11-4 on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Titans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Logan Bauer, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Troy Leas, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Shaler Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway only posted a batting average of .062.

Coming up, Shaler Area will square off against Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gateway, they will challenge Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
