The Sierra Pacific Golden Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Sanger West Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Sierra Pacific is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, Sierra Pacific came up short against Hanford West and fell 7-3. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost six in a row.

Sierra Pacific saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Misha Soares, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Jaynee Campos was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Sanger West came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Wildcats 11-1. Considering the Hornets have won eight matchups by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mia Arriola was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Hernandez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Sanger West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Sanger West's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Sierra Pacific, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.

Sierra Pacific suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to Sanger West in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can the Golden Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
