South Stanly suffers seventh straight loss on the road

Recap: South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls vs. Union Academy Cardinals

The South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 81-11 loss at the hands of Union Academy. South Stanly was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-10.

Piper Huneycutt was South Stanly's leading scorer, having posted six points.

Jaiden Thompson was her usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with eight rebounds and two steals for Union Academy. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paisley Boatright, who scored 14 points along with two steals.

South Stanly bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.4 points per game. As for Union Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Stanly will take on Gray Stone Day at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gray Stone Day is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Union Academy, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Mount Pleasant at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Mount Pleasant will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Union Academy is ranked 101st).
