Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Cordova's 12th in Last 14 Outings

Cordova had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Hatton Hornets on Tuesday. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2017.

Camden Johnson spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Shelby Black, who went 4-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Ella Grace Madison was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one double.

Cordova has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-15 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Hatton, their loss dropped their record down to 21-27-2.

As of now, neither Cordova nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
