Basketball Recap: Yuma Starts Season with Win on the Road

Yuma had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Sterling Tigers on Tuesday as they made off with a 61-39 victory. The Outlaws pushed the score to 52-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Brody Sheffield went supernova, putting up 16 points in addition to five assists and four steals. His big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Iann Duran, who posted 13 points and four steals.

Looking ahead, Yuma will take on Wray at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sterling, they will square off against Brush at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
