Preview: Walhalla Razorbacks vs. Daniel Lions
Walhalla is 2-8 against Daniel since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Walhalla Razorbacks will be playing at home against the Daniel Lions at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Walhalla waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They claimed a resounding 75-34 victory over Pendleton at home. Given Walhalla's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Pendleton is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Walhalla's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kami Roach, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Marnie Baxter was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 assists.
Meanwhile, Daniel scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Crescent 85-27 at home. That 58 points margin sets a new team best for Daniel this season.
Daniel found their leader in underclassman Janiyah Wilson, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Wilson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Lila Mann, who scored ten points.
Walhalla is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Daniel, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9.
Tuesday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Roach and Mann. Roach has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 steals, and 3 assists. For her part, Mann has averaged 12.5 points and 3.2 assists.
