Baseball Recap: Cromwell Comes Up Short

Cromwell easily dispatched Somers on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Panthers fell just short of the Morgan Huskies by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since April 11th.

Cromwell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jess Elfreich, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Elfreich has hit this season. Tyler Bonelli was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Cromwell now has a losing record of 7-8-1. As for Morgan, they pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Cromwell is taking a road trip to face off against North Branford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Thunderbirds' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Morgan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hand at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
