Softball Game Preview: Stevens Falcons vs. Harlan Hawks

Stevens is 1-8 against Harlan since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Stevens Falcons duke it out with Harlan Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Stevens has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Stevens is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Sotomayor, falling 14-5.

Evangelina Gonzalez and Nicole Elizondo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gonzalez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one triple, while Elizondo went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. The dominant performance gave Gonzalez a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesselle Pardo, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Harlan beat Holmes 10-6 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Harlan's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Stevens, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Stevens might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from Harlan when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Stevens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
