Basketball Recap: Richland County Tigers vs. Marion Wildcats

Richland County and Marion squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Richland County had to settle for second. They came up short against the Marion Wildcats, falling 61-36. The Tigers just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row.

Despite the loss, Richland County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Reid Brown went 8-for-12 en route to 19 points and five boards. Thanks to that strong game, Brown now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage.

Marion got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaden Rogowski out in front who went 8-for-14 on his way to 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Curry, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 15 points and six rebounds.

Richland County now has a losing record of 14-15. As for Marion, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Richland County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marion, they will take on Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
