Baseball Recap: Wake County HomeSchool Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Wake County HomeSchool Warriors didn't have quite enough to beat the Topsail Pirates and fell 8-7. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by just one run.

Jace Jones made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-6 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Pennica, who scored a run while going 3-for-6.

Jones wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Wake County HomeSchool kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Wake County HomeSchool now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Topsail, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wake County HomeSchool will face off against Cardinal Gibbons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Topsail, they will take on Ashley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashley will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Topsail surely won't give up without a fight.
