Watkins Memorial fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Utica on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redskins. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Jackson Bowers was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Bradley Vincent made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Watkins Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Utica, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season.

Watkins Memorial will take on Hayes at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Utica, they will head out on the road to face off against Danville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
