Softball Recap: Maple Mountain Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Maple Mountain walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 victory over the Cyprus Pirates on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Eagles have posted since March 7th.

Kyla Donegan was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was McClain Carter, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Maple Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. As for Cyprus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-13.

Looking ahead, Maple Mountain will take on Bountiful at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The RedHawks will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Cyprus does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
