Basketball Recap: Merkel's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

Merkel lost against Clyde back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Merkel Badgers took a hard 53-36 fall against the Clyde Bulldogs. The Badgers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Clyde was led to victory by Madeline Underwood and Gracie Caperton. Underwood dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Caperton posted 22 points along with six assists and six boards. The matchup was Underwood's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Morgan Mauldin was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.

Merkel's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Clyde, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-8.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Wall the next time they take the court. Merkel will host Wall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Clyde will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
