League recap: Blanchard tops Perkins-Tryon to extend winning streak

3A District 1 recap November 19, 2013

Blanchard added to the longest winning streak in 3A District 1 this week by beating Perkins-Tryon, 76-13. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Lions.

Jones moved up to 41 from 67 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Longhorns climbed the ranks as a result of besting Cushing 33-14.

Blanchard's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Blake Owen threw for 164 and 2 touchdowns and Kegan Lawson had 114 yards receiving. On the ground Braden Stringer contributed 189 yards. Collin Andrews helped Blanchard's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 66 yards.

Jeff Craig's team's dynamic duo of Owen and Lawson proved to be unstoppable against the Demons, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Andrews helped Blanchard's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 66 yards.

Stringer was a passing and rushing force as the Lions bested Perkins-Tryon. Stringer's favorite target this week was Lawson, who caught 4 passes for 114 yards.

Jones' Clayton Sims and Levi Fox have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sims has thrown for 2,003 yards this season, while Fox has 44 catches for 682 yards. Blanchard's Stringer leads the league in rushing yards with 2,311.

The Lions took down Lloyd Wertman's team 76-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Owen ran for 25 yards during the win.
