Basketball Recap: Garfield-Palouse Now 9-2 over Last 11 Games

Garfield-Palouse hadn't done well against Pomeroy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Garfield-Palouse Vikings managed a 47-42 win over the Pomeroy Pirates. The 47-point effort marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Pomeroy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cesar Morfin, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points. Those 14 points gave Morfin a new career-high. Kyzer Herres was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 11 points and six boards.

Garfield-Palouse has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Pomeroy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.

Garfield-Palouse will host Almira-Coulee-Hartline at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pomeroy, they will head out to take on Colton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
