Basketball Recap: Piedmont Academy Takes a Loss

Piedmont Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 69-47 to the First Presbyterian Day Vikings. The Cougars lost against the Vikings in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 77-32 score last time.

First Presbyterian Day found their leader in sophomore Jones Handberry, who went 11 of 17 en route to 33 points along with five boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Handberry has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gray Gleaton, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Piedmont Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for First Presbyterian Day, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14.

Piedmont Academy will face off against Mount de Sales Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for First Presbyterian Day, they will challenge Stratford Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
