Basketball Recap: Kongiganak Takes a Loss

Kongiganak lost against Eek back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Kongiganak Wolverines took a 74-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eek Cougars. The Wolverines were up 46-30 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eek to victory, but perhaps none more so than George Hoffman, who posted 31 points. The dominant performance gave Hoffman a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was John Friendly, who earned 19 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Kongiganak and nudges their season record down to 10-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 15-6 Chief Paul Memorial (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75.7% over those games). As for Eek, their record now sits at 8-2.

Kongiganak does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eek, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 62-49 loss against Chief Paul Memorial on the 22nd.
