Basketball Recap: Mission Oak's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Mission Oak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took an 80-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tulare Union The Tribe. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (62), the Hawks still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Mission Oak still got an impressive performance from Malakai Rodriguez, who went 8 of 20 on his way to 30 points and five rebounds. Anthony Jackson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 15 boards.

Even though they lost, Mission Oak smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 17 consecutive matchups.

Tulare Union got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Demaje Riley out in front who posted 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Riley's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehemiah Moreno, who went 5 for 9 en route to 17 points and five boards.

Mission Oak's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-11. As for Tulare Union, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2.

Mission Oak didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-53 victory against Mendota on the 18th. Tulare Union has also already played their next contest, a 46-41 loss against Dinuba on the 21st.
