Baseball Recap: Covenant Day Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Covenant Day fell victim to Charlotte Latin and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 1-0. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one run.

Grant Gardner was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

Covenant Day's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-3. As for Charlotte Latin, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Coming up, Covenant Day will take on Palisades at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pumas have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Charlotte Latin, they will head out to square off against East Mecklenburg at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
