Recap: Mountain Pine Red Devils vs. Woodlawn Bears
On Friday, The Mountain Pine Red Devils faced the Woodlawn Bears in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mountain Pine managed a 26-22 win over Woodlawn. That's another feather in the cap for Mountain Pine, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Among those leading the charge was Adonis Delaney, who rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Zyon Wyatt also helped out as he racked up 101 rushing yards.
Mountain Pine's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Antonio Rookard and his three sacks.
Mountain Pine has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 3-2 record this season. As for Woodlawn, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.
Mountain Pine will head out on the road to face off against Strong at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Strong's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Woodlawn, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Marvell Academy at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Marvell Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
