Baseball Recap: Youngsville Extends Winning Streak to Three

Youngsville waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Iroquois Braves a 3-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in April.

Iroquois' batters probably weren't too happy with David Manning, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up zero walks). Manning has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Braydon Baker, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Youngsville is undefeated when Baker posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. Cole Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Youngsville's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Iroquois, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Looking ahead, Youngsville will take on Northwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Iroquois, they will square off against Mercyhurst Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
