Softball Recap: Caldera Comes Up Short

Caldera dropped their record down to 9-11 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 13-3 to the Bend Lava Bears. Surprisingly, this marked Caldera's third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Danika Hollibaugh was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

As for Bend, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

On Bend's side, Taylor Aldrich was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. That's the most strikeouts Aldrich has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Isabella Lauerman and Cassidy Sandgren did most of the damage at the plate: Lauerman went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Sandgren went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those five RBI gave Lauerman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Glasser, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Caldera didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-8 loss against Ridgeview on the 9th. As for Bend, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-0 victory against Redmond on the 9th.
