Basketball Recap: Baxter Springs Takes a Loss

Baxter Springs lost against New Heights Christian Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Baxter Springs Lions lost to the New Heights Christian Academy Cougars at home by a 68-49 margin.

New Heights Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adam Stanton led the charge by going 7 for 11 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight steals and five boards. Stanton's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brodrick Burns, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Baxter Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for New Heights Christian Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Baxter Springs and Galena will compete for holiday cheer on Thursday. As for New Heights Christian Academy, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the New Heights Christian Academy Cougars face off against the Diamond Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
