Recap: Jones Trojans vs. La Vernia Bears
The Jones Trojans fell victim to the La Vernia Bears''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Bears, falling 49-0. Jones' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Elijah Sustaita threw for 41 yards on six of 15 attempts. On the ground, Austin Arredondo rushed for 32 yards.
It was another big night for Keegan Hajek, who rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 139 yards and a touchdown on only seven passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Colten Schmid, who picked up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Jones' defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for La Vernia, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Jones will head out on the road to face off against Pleasanton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pleasanton is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for La Vernia, they will be playing at home against Rockport-Fulton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rockport-Fulton is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
