Basketball Recap: Hannah Slaughter Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pungo Christian Academy

Everything went their way against the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders on Thursday as the Ridgecroft Rams made off with a 55-29 victory. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Raiders are ranked 430th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ridgecroft's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hannah Slaughter led the charge by going 5 of 12 on her way to 15 points and seven assists. Slaughter has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Molly Brown, who went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points and seven rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Pungo Christian Academy lost, don't look at Allison Sawyer. Despite the final result, she went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. That was a full 44.8% of Pungo Christian Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.
