Volleyball Recap: Westland Cougars vs. Dublin Scioto Irish
Westland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Dublin Scioto Irish. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Irish this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 2nd.
While Westland was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Dublin Scioto's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-13, 25-17.
Kylie Murphy paced Westland's offense, picking up five kills. Murphy got some help from Audrey Alves and her eight assists.
Lyla Magnussen was the offensive standout of the match as she had seven digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last seven matchups. Emily D'Eramo also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.
Westland's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Dublin Scioto, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.
Looking ahead, Westland will head out on the road to take on Hilliard Darby at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Dublin Scioto, they will challenge St. Francis DeSales at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
