Baseball Recap: Augusta Southeastern Victorious

Augusta Southeastern's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the West Prairie Cyclones. That's more bragging rights for the Suns, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Brady McClintock and Griffin Tippey made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, McClintock struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Tippey struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, McClintock got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Tippey got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Tippey is becoming a predictor of Augusta Southeastern's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-11 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Austin Stigall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one triple. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Augusta Southeastern's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for West Prairie, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
