Baseball Recap: Rio Lindo Adventist Comes Up Short

Rio Lindo Adventist couldn't beat Summerfield Waldorf on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Spartans came up short against the Mustangs, falling 19-6. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Rio Lindo Adventist saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vincent Barcenas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Barcenas has become a key player for the Spartans: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Grant Dietrich also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Rio Lindo Adventist and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Summerfield Waldorf, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Rio Lindo Adventist will head out on the road to square off against Technology at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.6 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Summerfield Waldorf, they will host San Francisco Waldorf at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs are facing the Wolverines at the right time seeing as the Wolverines are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
