Softball Recap: Jay County Patriots vs. Yorktown Tigers
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Jay County couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Yorktown Tigers on Thursday, falling 8-2. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Carley Trinidad spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hallie Schwieterman made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Ava Peterson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Jay County's loss dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Yorktown, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-2.
