Softball Game Preview: Adams-Friendship Green Devils vs. Wautoma Hornets

Adams-Friendship and Wautoma are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Green Devils will head out on the road to take on the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Adams-Friendship is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

Adams-Friendship came out on top against Nekoosa on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Green Devils' pitcher stepped up to hand the Papermakers a 10-0 shutout. The Green Devils haven't had any issues with the Papermakers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Riley Weaver made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Weaver was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Piper Moyer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Keagan Pokszyk also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Adams-Friendship always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Westfield Area hit Wautoma with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hornets took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Pioneers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Wautoma's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Adams-Friendship, their record is now 9-7.

Adams-Friendship took their win against Wautoma in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
