Volleyball Recap: Victoria Benitez Key Part of Team Effort in Stingrays Win + How To Watch

The Sumner Stingrays got the win against the Hillsborough Terriers on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Stingrays.

Sumner was especially dominant in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-17, 25-13.

Sumner's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Victoria Benitez, who had six aces and four digs. Those six aces gave Benitez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alana Mitchell, who had 12 digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Sumner was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 13 aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Sumner's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Hillsborough, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Sumner will face off against Lennard at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hillsborough, they will square off against Tampa Bay Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
