Baseball Recap: Hershey Beats Gettysburg for Their Third Straight Victory

Hershey entered their tilt with Gettysburg on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 6-2. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Warriors on April 2nd, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Danny Nelson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Erwin, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Hershey kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Hershey's record now sits at 10-5. As for Gettysburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hershey will face off against Red Land at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gettysburg, they will square off against Bishop McDevitt at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
