Football Game Preview: South Point Red Raiders vs. Kings Mountain Mountaineers

The South Point Red Raiders will challenge the Kings Mountain Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Point will be strutting in after a win while Kings Mountain will be coming in after a defeat.

South Point's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They really took it to North Gaston for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

South Point relied on the efforts of Kaveaun Pless, who rushed for 138 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries, and Patrick Blee, who rushed for 57 yards and two TDs on only seven carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Blee has posted since back in November of 2024.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something South Point proved: they limited North Gaston to a paltry three yards per carry. The Red Raiders didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.9.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 65 points the game before, Kings Mountain was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were outmatched by Ashbrook and fell 43-7. The matchup marked the Mountaineers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Kings Mountain's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for South Point, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-2.

South Point beat Kings Mountain 28-21 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Mountaineers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
