Football Recap: Northeastern's Undefeated Season over After Seven Games

Northeastern was the 42-20 winner over Shenandoah when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Knights took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders on Friday. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 14-7 in the first quarter.

Even if they lost, Northeastern's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Dakota May was especially locked on to Shenandoah's QB and sacked him twice. May also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 21. Northeastern got some further help from Charlie Shaffer: he picked up a sack and made 13 total tackles.

Shenandoah's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jarrett Helman, who rushed for 162 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 152 yards and four touchdowns. That's the most passing touchdowns Helman has posted since back in September of 2024. Cash Cowley was in the mix as well, providing Shenandoah with two scores.

Having lost for the first time this season, Northeastern fell to 6-1. As for Shenandoah, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Northeastern will face off against Knightstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' defense better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 46.1 points per game this season. As for Shenandoah, they will take on Eastern Hancock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Royals have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
