Basketball Game Preview: Omaha North Vikings vs. Burke Bulldogs

The Omaha North Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the Burke Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Omaha North has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Thursday, Omaha North beat Lincoln Southwest 80-70.

Jerri'On Williams was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 27 points and ten boards. Omaha North is 2-1 when Williams posts 25 or more points, but 6-12 otherwise. Dontae Mcdowell was another key player, going 6-for-10 on his way to 17 points.

Omaha North was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Burke, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Norfolk by a score of 81-71 on Saturday.

Burke's win came from a few key players Omaha North will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Michael White, who went 7-for-10 en route to 20 points and six rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nate Vereen-Burton, who had 13 points and five assists.

Omaha North's record now sits at 8-13. As for Burke, their record is now 9-13.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Omaha North hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 61.4 points per game. However, it's not like Burke struggles in that department as they've been averaging 58.2 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.

Omaha North strolled past Burke in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 57-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Omaha North since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
