Basketball Recap: Claiborne Academy Comes Up Short

Claiborne Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Briarfield Academy Rebels. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Claiborne Academy this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-37 two weeks ago.

When it comes to explaining why Claiborne Academy lost, don't look at Jaylee Baird. Despite the final result, she made all 9 shots she took for 23 points. Another player making a difference was Caydence Hardin, who posted 12 points.

Claiborne Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-13. As for Briarfield Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Central School the next time they take the court. Claiborne Academy will host Central School at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Briarfield Academy will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
