Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals vs. Oak City Prep Bears

The Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals will square off against the Oak City Prep Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Wayne Preparatory Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Saturday, Wayne Preparatory Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 77-71 to Grace Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (60), the Generals still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 109-45, which was the final score in Oak City Prep's tilt against Freedom Christian Academy back in December of 2024. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 421st, while the Patriots are ranked 154th).

Wayne Preparatory Academy will need focus on slowing down Amazin Dixon, one of several Oak City Prep players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 for 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The matchup was Dixon's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiyeon Wilson, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Oak City Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Wayne Preparatory Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
