Basketball Game Preview: Merrill Bluejays vs. Crandon Cardinals

The Merrill Bluejays will head out on the road to square off against the Crandon Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Merrill came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Wausau West, falling 60-39. The Bluejays haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Crandon and Wabeno/Laona, and Wabeno/Laona kept the tradition alive. The Cardinals lost 62-39 to the Rebels on Tuesday.

Crandon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Merrill, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Merrill strolled past Crandon when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 74-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bluejays since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
