Softball Recap: East Bladen Victorious

East Bladen took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against South Columbus, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Stallions 9-8. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one run.

Niyah Wooten was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Taylor Dowless, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Wooten wasn't the only one working in the hit department: East Bladen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for East Bladen and bumps their season record up to 3-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for South Columbus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. East Bladen is set to face off against their familiar foe Heide Trask at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, South Columbus will take on rival West Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
