Softball Recap: Portland's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Portland dropped their record down to 11-15 on Friday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Creek Wood Red Hawks, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since April 10th.

As for Creek Wood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Creek Wood's part, Elizabeth Martin made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over six innings pitched. Martin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jaycee Dillehay and Lilly Killebrew did most of the damage at the plate: Dillehay went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Killebrew went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Dillehay has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Aleigha McCord, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
