Baseball Recap: Dekaney Takes a Loss

Dekaney lost against Spring last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Lions by a score of 6-4. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly two runs.

Jonathan Perez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Dekaney and nudges their season record down to 14-13. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Spring, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Dekaney will welcome MacArthur at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Generals will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Spring, they will head out to square off against Langham Creek at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lobos will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
