Basketball Game Preview: South Harrison Hawks vs. Gilmer County Titans

The South Harrison Hawks and the Gilmer County Titans will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. South Harrison knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Gilmer County likes a good challenge.

South Harrison had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 38-point drubbing they dealt Calhoun on Wednesday. South Harrison simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Calhoun 66-28. The game marked the Hawks' most dominant win of the season.

Meanwhile, Gilmer County hadn't done well against Webster County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Gilmer County walked away with a 54-47 victory over Webster County.

Gilmer County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points over those games. As for South Harrison, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-7.

South Harrison didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Gilmer County in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 71-67 victory.
