Ken Dixon sets Arkansas rushing record

Star finishes senior year with 3,153 yards after sparking Strong to first Class 2A state title.

Ken Dixon broke the state single-game rushing record while leading Strong (Ark.) to a 45-20 victory over Carlisle (Ark.) to win its first Class 2A state football championship. It also marked the first time the Bulldogs had reached the title game.

The 5-foot-10, 210-pound senior ran for a title-game record 348 yards and tied the record with five touchdowns. The Louisiana Tech recruit also threw a 40-yard touchdown pass and scored on a 2-point conversion. He finished his outstanding career with a single-season state rushing record of 3,153 yards, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. He also scored 39 touchdowns this year.

The Bulldogs, who got off to a slow start, finished with a 10-3 record after handing Carlisle its first loss in 14 outings.
