Basketball Game Preview: Negaunee Miners vs. Calumet Copper Kings

Negaunee is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Calumet is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Negaunee Miners will host the Calumet Copper Kings at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Calumet took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Negaunee, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Negaunee didn't have too much trouble with Gladstone as they won 45-28.

Meanwhile, Calumet unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Gladstone by a score of 48-46. While losing is never fun, the Copper Kings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Braves are ranked 35th).

Negaunee's victory bumped their record up to 15-0. As for Calumet, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.

Everything went Negaunee's way against Calumet when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as Negaunee made off with a 56-35 win. Will Negaunee repeat their success, or does Calumet have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
