Softball Recap: Sparta's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Sparta's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Jenison Wildcats 14-2. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Sparta got a massive performance out of Alexa VanVliet, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave VanVliet a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Wilcox, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Sparta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win snapped Sparta's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 13-8 record. As for Jenison, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Sparta has already played their next game (against Oakridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Jenison, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-10 victory against Grandville on the 8th.
