Baseball Recap: Anna-Jonesboro Comes Up Short

The Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats lost 15-3 to the Murphysboro Red Devils on Monday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aaron Sheffer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Luke Vaughn also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Anna-Jonesboro's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Murphysboro, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record.

Looking ahead, Anna-Jonesboro will square off against Goreville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Murphysboro, they will challenge Crystal Lake South at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
