Baseball Game Preview: New Hope Indians vs. Randolph School Raiders

New Hope is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Saturday. They will be playing at home against the Randolph School Raiders at 11:00 a.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for New Hope and four for Randolph School.

New Hope came up short against Paintsville on Thursday, falling 14-3.

Dawson Cambron was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played.

Meanwhile, Randolph School didn't have quite enough to beat Ardmore on Friday and fell 11-10.

Keaton Schroer and Jackson Weglage did some serious damage despite the final result: Schroer scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Weglage scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Schroer a new career-high in hits (two). Michael Vega was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Randolph School's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for New Hope, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

New Hope took their victory against Randolph School when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1. Will New Hope repeat their success, or does Randolph School has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
