Baseball Recap: Pepin/Alma Comes Up Short

Pepin/Alma extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 1-12. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran Lancers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 8-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average this season.

For Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran's part, their win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Sydow, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Sydow has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Seth Bernthal was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Pepin/Alma will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Durand-Arkansaw at 5:00 p.m. As for Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran, they will venture away from home to take on Whitehall at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
