Soccer Game Preview: Dawson vs. Shadow Creek

Dawson is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Shadow Creek is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Dawson Eagles will welcome the Shadow Creek Sharks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Shadow Creek better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Dawson really get things going. Everything went Dawson's way against Pasadena Memorial on Wednesday as Dawson made off with a 6-2 win. Considering the Eagles have won nine games by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Pasadena Memorial with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Natalia Chavez (2), Sumaya Stewart (2), Maren Locklear, and Kaitlin Quada.

Meanwhile, Shadow Creek was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged Manvel out 3-2. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Mavericks are ranked 490th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shadow Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those ten matchups. As for Dawson, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.

Everything went Dawson's way against Shadow Creek when the teams last played back in January, as Dawson made off with a 4-1 win. Does Dawson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shadow Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
